NYX Lip liner and Soft Matte Lip Cream Review!

While on a shopping in Barnsley (a town near where I live) I popped into boots and spotted an NYX counter! I don’t have one where I live so I was sooo excited when I spotted it! Something I have been wanting to try by NYX for ages is their soft matte lip creams because I have heard so much about them. I had to stop myself from buying the entire counter haha so in the end I picked up these 2 items: The soft matte lip cream in the shade 06 Instanbul and the retractable lip liner in the shade soft pink.

Retractable lip liner (soft pink)- I am not a massive fan of retractable lip liners just because I feel like they don’t last as long as pencil liners but since I loved the colour of this I got it anyway. I love this lip liner because it is quite soft, when you apply this it glides on the lips and doesn’t drag. The formula is really good and doesn’t smudge when its on.

Soft matte lip cream (Istanbul)- I am in love with the shade of this lipstick! Its like a pinky nude shade and perfect to pair with neutral makeup looks. I like the formula of this because its not too drying and it doesn’t crack once it dries which is a problem I have with some matte liquid lipsticks. This is more like a cream as the name suggests, which I love.

Those are the swatches of the lip liner and matte lip cream! The lip cream isn’t quite that dark in person its slightly lighter but its soooo nice I love it!

These are the first products I have tried by NYX and I am very impressed. Both products stayed on really well and are really good quality for an affordable price at £5.50 each.

Have you ever tried any products by NYX? If you have any reccomendations please make sure to let me know in the comments below!

#SoppySundays Tag!

The #SoppySundays tag was created by Alex at thelipstickladyblog.wordpress.com Rebecca at staticnova.blogspot.com Go and check out both of their blogs because they are amazing! I am very excited to be doing this tag today, if you would like to join in head over to the @soppysundays twitter account for more information.

Onto the questions..

1. Who is your biggest inspiration in life?

My partner, Lucas

2. How does that person inspire you?

He inspires me because he always seems to find the good in every situation and he always makes me feel so good about myself. He is so kind and never fails to make me smile.

3. If you could give one piece of advice to another blogger in your field, what would it be?

Write about things that you love, things that you are passionate about. Don’t just write about things because everyone else is writing about them, just do your thing!

4. What advice would you give to someone looking to start a blog?

Go for it! I started my blog in August and I haven’t looked back since, I love it! Also I recommend to join in with the twitter chats and just engage with other bloggers in general, the blogging community is amazing.

5. Why did you start your blog?

I had wanted to start one for a while but I was to nervous about what people would think and I didn’t know where to start! But one day in August I finally took the leap and made my blog here on WordPress.

6. Where do you find that most support for your blog comes from? (Family, other bloggers etc)

My family know about my blog and are supportive of it but I also get support from other bloggers! They are all so lovely and leave nice comments and also my blogging friends are always there to give advice on my blog if I need it.

So those are my questions, I have loved doing this tag and remember to check the @soppysundays twitter for more information on how you can join in!

♡ Collection Speedy Highlighter Review! ♡

Recently I have been really into using highlighters, while browsing in Superdrug a couple of weeks ago I spotted this ‘Speedy highlighter’ by Collection and I knew I just had to try it! Mine is in the shade ‘Pearl sheen’

The packaging is nice and simple, perfect for popping in your handbag when you’re on the go. It is also perfect for applying on the go or if you need to top up throughout the day as it is in a handy twist up style, you just draw it along your cheekbones and then blend in.

I think the style of this is really handy and I find it nicer to apply than the powdered highlighters as with this you can just swipe it along your cheekbones.

The pigmentation of this is amazing and with just one swipe the highlight is gorgeous. I like to use it along the top of my cheekbones and then blend it in with my Real techniques buffing brush.

I had high hopes for this as I previously purchased Collections Eyes Uncovered nude and nude bronze palettes and fell in love with them. They did not let me down as I love this highlighter and I have been using it non stop since I bought it! Its great to use everyday or on nights out to add a little extra glow.

It retails at £3.99 you can find it here or at other places such as boots or Wilkinson’s.

Have you tried the collection speedy highlighter? What did you think of it?

♡ Bedside Essentials ♡

Hello everybody! I have been really busy recently, I cant believe its already Saturday this week has gone so quick. I have gone back to blonde this week which I am very excited about so I will be doing a post on that soon.

Today I will be sharing with you all my bedside essentials, these are all the things I like to keep on my shelf next to my bed so that I have them handy for me to use on a night time.

A good book- I have recently got back into reading, I used to read all the time but somewhere between exams and then starting work I just seemed to stop. I am so glad that I have started reading again because I had forgotten how much I love it. At the moment I am reading The perks of being a wallflower which I am really enjoying, I will be sure to post a review on this once I have finished it.

Garnier Micellar water- Since discovering this I use it religiously every night, I honestly don’t know what I did without it before. It removes all of my makeup quickly but also removes it properly and more effective than a makeup wipe does. If you would like to know more about this you can read a review I wrote about it here.

Garnier Night care cream- My skin sometimes gets a little dry so at night after removing my makeup I apply this, It just helps to give my skin that little boost it needs.

Earphones- Aside from reading, when I am tucked up in bed I sometimes like to watch YouTube videos. I watch them on my phone mostly so I keep my earphones nearby so I can plug them in and catch up on videos.

Lip balm- My lips tend to get really dry so I always like to keep a lip balm handy. My favourite as you all probably know by now is Baby lips!

Soap and Glory’s Heel Genius- I love this so much! I like to apply it at night after getting out of the shower. I use a generous amount on my feet and then put some cozy socks on, in the morning I wake up with super soft feet!

Notebook-At night when I am in bed I always seem to get ideas for Blog posts or YouTube videos so I always like to keep my notebook handy to jot down anything that I need to.

I also like to have a couple of candles lit on a night time to brighten up the room a little and keep it smelling lovely. The one in this picture is from Primark in the scent ‘Sweet Berry and Patchouli’

The skincare products featured in this post are not the only ones I use on a night time, I tend to keep the others on my dressing table. I hope you all liked this post! What are your bedside essentials?

Christmas Party Essentials ~ Collaboration edition!

Hello! I am very excited to be doing this post, I wrote a post last week asking if anyone would be interested in doing a group collaboration and the response was amazing. So thank you to all the ladies that joined in with this collaboration, I will add the links to their blogs at the end of this post as we have each written our 5 ‘Christmas party essentials’

Christmas is coming soon and that means the Christmas parties are too! Today I will be sharing with you 5 of my Christmas party essentials that I will be using this year.

False nails- I usually wear nail varnish but for special occasions I like to wear false nails because I think they look so much nicer than my natural nails. I got a pack of 500 clear full false nails from Ebay as I like to design my own. To design these ones I used a gorgeous dark plum nail varnish from Primark’s ‘P.S’ range with gold shimmer mixed in. For the glitter I used glitter acrylic powder, I also used this to create the glitter fade. I think these nails are perfect for Christmas and can add just the right amount of glamour to any outfit.

Lashes- These are another thing that I stick to wearing on special occasions. They are fun to wear and add a dramatic effect to any make up look. I chose these ones because I think they are the perfect length, I prefer natural looking ones rather than the thicker ones on me. Make sure to take your lash glue with you just encase they come a little loose later on in the night!

Perfume- This one is an essential for any party but I thought it would be fun to add into the post; this is the perfect fragrance for Christmas, it will leave you smelling lovely all night long. I chose ‘Angel’ by Thierry Mugler.. sticking with the Christmas theme! You could always take a smaller perfume or a body spray with you in your bag to top up while you are out.

V05 Ultimate hold Travel sized hairspray- I love these smaller sized hairsprays because they are perfect for popping in your handbag. This one is definitely an essential for me because my hair has a mind of its own…

Make up Revolution Pro Fixing spray- This comes in two different types; the normal one and the oil control one. I have the oil control one as I do have quite oily skin and this stops my skin from looking shiny and keeps my make up in place throughout the day. I feel this is definitely an essential for a Christmas party so that you can keep your make up looking perfect all night.

So those were my Christmas party essentials, I hope you liked them. I am very excited for upcoming celebrations, Christmas is my favourite time of the year!
