Its been a while, but I really have missed blogging! To get back into things I thought Id do a post about a few things I’ve been into lately and some things that have inspired me.
One of the reasons I haven’t blogged recently is that I haven’t felt that inspired, I didn’t know what I wanted to blog about. While at work the other day I was having a little moan about how I missed blogging and how I never had ‘time’ to do it anymore. My manager gave me the little push I needed and said if I really want to do it then I will make time and that is very true! So I have decided I’m going to put some time aside and start blogging again.
✮Makeup- I have been playing around with different makeup looks recently, trying to step out of my comfort zone and use more colour so when the black Friday deals were on a couple of weeks ago I purchased the Urban Decay electric palette while it was 30% off at Debenhams. I had wanted this palette for so long, the colours in it are beautiful. The third picture above is a look created with the palette by ‘@sssamanthaa’ on Instagram. I love this look and I cant wait to try it out on myself.
✮Writing- After reading about them and putting it off for so long because I didn’t really know where to start.. I finally started a bullet journal! Hopefully this will help me to be more organized with blogging too.
✮Fashion- I am loving the big glasses trend at the moment, the bottom right picture is me wearing some I purchased from Primark the other day. I absolutely love them! I think the gold frame makes them look really pretty too.
✮Reading- I recently re read my favourite inspirational book- Sophia Amoruso’s #Girlboss This book always inspires me to keep going and push to work and achieve my dreams.
✮Quote- ‘Go the extra mile, its never crowded’ I love this quote, if you really want to do something, try harder- go the extra mile and you will achieve your goal. Recently I have been making more time in a morning to do different makeup looks and post on my Instagram. By doing this I’ve been getting more practice with my makeup and getting pictures to keep track of my progress.
While on a shopping in Barnsley (a town near where I live) I popped into boots and spotted an NYX counter! I don’t have one where I live so I was sooo excited when I spotted it! Something I have been wanting to try by NYX for ages is their soft matte lip creams because I have heard so much about them. I had to stop myself from buying the entire counter haha so in the end I picked up these 2 items: The soft matte lip cream in the shade 06 Instanbul and the retractable lip liner in the shade soft pink.
Retractable lip liner (soft pink)- I am not a massive fan of retractable lip liners just because I feel like they don’t last as long as pencil liners but since I loved the colour of this I got it anyway. I love this lip liner because it is quite soft, when you apply this it glides on the lips and doesn’t drag. The formula is really good and doesn’t smudge when its on.
Soft matte lip cream (Istanbul)- I am in love with the shade of this lipstick! Its like a pinky nude shade and perfect to pair with neutral makeup looks. I like the formula of this because its not too drying and it doesn’t crack once it dries which is a problem I have with some matte liquid lipsticks. This is more like a cream as the name suggests, which I love.
Those are the swatches of the lip liner and matte lip cream! The lip cream isn’t quite that dark in person its slightly lighter but its soooo nice I love it!
These are the first products I have tried by NYX and I am very impressed. Both products stayed on really well and are really good quality for an affordable price at £5.50 each.
Have you ever tried any products by NYX? If you have any reccomendations please make sure to let me know in the comments below!
The #SoppySundays tag was created by Alex at thelipstickladyblog.wordpress.com Rebecca at staticnova.blogspot.com Go and check out both of their blogs because they are amazing! I am very excited to be doing this tag today, if you would like to join in head over to the @soppysundays twitter account for more information.
Onto the questions..
1. Who is your biggest inspiration in life?
My partner, Lucas
2. How does that person inspire you?
He inspires me because he always seems to find the good in every situation and he always makes me feel so good about myself. He is so kind and never fails to make me smile.
3. If you could give one piece of advice to another blogger in your field, what would it be?
Write about things that you love, things that you are passionate about. Don’t just write about things because everyone else is writing about them, just do your thing!
4. What advice would you give to someone looking to start a blog?
Go for it! I started my blog in August and I haven’t looked back since, I love it! Also I recommend to join in with the twitter chats and just engage with other bloggers in general, the blogging community is amazing.
5. Why did you start your blog?
I had wanted to start one for a while but I was to nervous about what people would think and I didn’t know where to start! But one day in August I finally took the leap and made my blog here on WordPress.
6. Where do you find that most support for your blog comes from? (Family, other bloggers etc)
My family know about my blog and are supportive of it but I also get support from other bloggers! They are all so lovely and leave nice comments and also my blogging friends are always there to give advice on my blog if I need it.
So those are my questions, I have loved doing this tag and remember to check the @soppysundays twitter for more information on how you can join in!
I have been so inspired by the brand ‘The Ragged Priest’ recently, I just love all of the pieces in their collection. I made a mood board with some of the pieces from their shop that I have been loving.
The jeans are hand painted which I think is amazing and they are super cute too! I am in love with these and I have been looking for some mom jeans for ages, unfortunately I can not afford to pay £95 *cries*
The next picture is just wow! I love both the top and skirt they are amazing. Sometimes when I go clothes shopping I have no idea what I am looking for but I feel like when I go onto the Ragged Priest website I just want everything!
The bow crop top is actually listed as ‘bow tits top’ but I didn’t call it that above as that wouldn’t be very lady like of me hahaha… I really like this one but its not something I would wear myself because I just know by looking at it that it wouldn’t suit me, but I just had to add it in anyway because I really like it!
*TIP* If you are ever so slightly skint like me but also love expensive brands like the ragged priest or others, search them on depop, I found this recently and I am addicted! YOURE WELCOME!
Do you like the Ragged Priest? Which pieces have you been loving recently?
This is my new wonderful desk setup, we have a little office room at home and up until now we have only really used it for storage. I finally decided to sort a few things out and make more space in the office so that I was able to use the desk that we have in there.
Todays post is a collaboration with a company called WeWork, they offer amazing shared office spaces along with many benefits and discounts for people who freelance or run their own business! The idea of this post is to share my current workspace which was my sofa up until now, but I’m sure that wouldn’t have been very interesting so I am excited to share my new and improved workspace with you all!
Now onto the desk layout: In the left corner I have a couple of books that inspire me, sometimes I like to flick through them to get a little inspiration. and in the right corner I have my super cute Hello kitty mug that I am using as a pen pot because it is too cute to be tucked away in the cupboard! I use it to store my sharpies and a couple of pens. Then next to that is a candle because I love to have candles lit, this one is vanilla and it smells amazing!
Next up is my laptop of course, I use this for everything; blogging, editing, uploading videos and pictures, I don’t know what I would do without it! I always like to have a pretty background on my laptop to keep it looking cute! I also like to keep my two favourite notebooks nearby, the one with cameras on is my newest one which is so pretty, I use it to plan blog posts.
I am really pleased with my new workspace and I have to say, I get a lot more done now that I have this space, I get distracted really easily but with this space it helps me to keep focused!
Today marks the last day of 2015 and so I have decided to set myself 6 goals for the new year. I am going to try my best with these goals and I have been feeling inspired while reading my new book #Girlboss by Sophia Amoruso so I thought why not do a blog post about the goals I have set myself.
Work on my blog: I already work hard on my blog but in the upcoming new year I would like to improve my blog and content and also grow my blog.
Work on my Youtube videos: I am really enjoying my new Youtube channel and I am looking forward to improving my videos and learning more about editing and things like that along the way. I am also setting myself a goal to save up for a proper camera to use to shoot my videos with.
Read more often: Towards the end of this year I have started reading more and I would like to keep this up in the new year.
Exercise more: I go on walks with our dog most days but I would like to maybe start jogging or swimming more often.
Work on my makeup skills: I am really into makeup and beauty and I would really like to improve my skills, I have been really inspired by Carli Bybel and Racheal Leary’s Youtube channels and I would like to practice and learn more as both of their channels are amazing!
Drink more water: Yes I know it is bad but I really don’t drink enough water.
I am going to work really hard and try to stick with these goals and I am sure I will feel happy with myself for sticking with them. Have you set yourself any goals for the new year? Let me know in the comments below!
Hello everybody! I cannot believe that it is only a couple of days until the new year it is crazy! For todays post I decided to do a roundup of beauty products that I have been loving this year, some of them are new discoveries and some are ones I have loved for a long time but I am sure that I will continue to love and use them all in the upcoming new year.
Makeup revolution: I discovered this brand for the first time this year and it was love at first sight! All of their products are such high quality at an affordable price, the eye shadow palettes are highly pigmented and the packaging is always really nice.
Real Techniques: I had heard about this brand a lot but it wasn’t until a couple of months ago that I decided to buy some makeup brushes by them. I bought the Core collection kit and when I tried the brushes I quickly regretted not trying them sooner. They are amazing- so soft and they apply makeup flawlessly.
Rimmel: Rimmel are a brand that I have loved for a long time, but I decided to include them in this post because I have found myself using quite a few Rimmel products this year. I have used and loved the Kate lipsticks, good to glow highlighter and a more recent favourite.. the brow this way eyebrow gel.
Garnier Micellar water: I love, love, love this stuff! After using it my skin just feels so clean and refreshed. Not only that but it removes makeup that I didn’t realise was still on my skin. For example, I would use a makeup wipe to remove makeup and then use the Micellar water and the makeup would still be coming off my skin and onto the cotton pad.
ProVoke touch of silver shampoo: I have been using this product a lot this year as I have mostly been blonde apart from a brief period when I decided I wanted a change in colour. This product works wonders on my hair and gets rid of any unwanted brassy tones from the first wash which I think is amazing!
Soap and glory: This was another product that I tried for the first time this year. It all started when I tried a sample size of ‘The scrub of your life’ and I instantly fell in love with the smell and with the quality of the product. I went into boots and bought clean on me, hand food and heel genius. I loved all of them especially hand food, I always use it as my hands tend to get pretty dry, especially in winter.
I have discovered so many new beauty favourites in 2015 and I cant wait to discover more in the new year!
What beauty products have you been loving this year? Let me know in the comments below!
